Certified by John S McNeill Registrar, John S McNeill Registrar Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Babine of Meteghan farmer am held and firmly bound to my father Peter Babine and my mother Gertrude Babine also of Meteghan in the sum of one thousand dollars of good and lawful money of Nova Scotia to be paid to them or either of them or to their certain attorney their executors or administrators firmly by these presents sealed with my seal and dated the forth day of January AD 1871. The condition of this obligation is such, whereas the said Peter Babine and Gertrude his wife having disposed of their property by way of Deeds given to their son Joseph Babine and freely accepted the same now the said Joseph Babine do agree to take the burden upon himself to maintain his said father and mother and also his sister Jane who is infirm and also his sister Madeleine in case she shall not retire to herself in marriage and give them a decent burial according to his mean. But shall not be of any obligation to maintain them unless they shall live with him into his own house, and we name to see the fulfillment of the above conditions either of the Catholic Priests that may be resident in this parish at the time needed, and if the said Joseph Babine do maintain in a proper manner the parties above named to the satisfaction of the trust as aforesaid this bond to be of no effect otherwise to reversion in full force in law. In Witness whereof the said Joseph Babine have hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Signed seal in the presence of BA Robichau Joseph Babine (LS) I Sterus Jones of Weymouth in the County of Digby make oath and say I am acquainted with the hand writing of the late BA Robichau the subscribing witness to the foregoing Indenture and that the signature of said BA Robichau therein made is in the hand writing of the said BA Robichau.
